Visa Requirements for Studying in Australia

Upon receiving the admission offer letter from the intended university, it is a must for the students to take visa preparation as early as possible because it is a vital step for an overseas student aspiring to study in Australia. Students need to get a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) and an offer letter that confirms the acceptance into a course registered under CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institutions of Courses) before applying for the Australian Student Visa (Subclass 500). The CoE is an online code that has to be entered into the online visa application form. To get it, students must submit the term or semester fee upfront.

If anybody wishes to transfer courses to study in Australia at the same or a higher level, they can do so after getting the visa. However, to transfer to a lower-level course on the AQF (Australian Qualification Framework) or a non-AQF level course, students must apply for a new visa. This rule in fact applies to everyone, with the exception only of Ph.D. students who want to transfer to Masters degrees.

At V4U Global, we have over a decade of experience in guiding our students with a seamless visa procedure aligning with all the visa requirements. Our agents help you to assemble and get reviewed the the documents required by the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) to enhance legitimacy as per laws and provide professional advice to make your visa application process smooth, which eventually saves your time, lessen your hassles, and of course enhances the chances of a favourable outcome.

Documents Required for Australian Student Visa

Here is a checklist for all the documents you need to submit, along with your online visa application form:

  •  Completed Australian Student Visa Application form (157A)
  • Paid Visa Application fee (currently 620 AUD approx.)
  • Copy of all pages of the passport including valid, invalid, old, and current (some may need to provide their physical passports).
  • CoE and Offer Letter from University
  • Proof of sufficient funds
  • Proof of healthcare cover (OSHC)
  • Test results of English proficiency
  • Results of criminal record check

The DHA takes the health and character certificates, proof of financial capacity, and English proficiency into consideration along with evaluating GTE requirements.

The GTE is a requirement that has been in use since November 2011. It states that the visa applicant must display a genuine and legal intention to stay in Australia. It may be to study or to accompany a student as a dependent (spouse/ child) or a guardian.

  • Circumstances in the applicant’s home country
  • Potential situations for the applicant in Australia
  • Value of the chosen career
  • Immigration history of the applicant

To decide whether an applicant fulfils this criterion, he or she may need to attend an interview at the Australian High Commission in India. Some applicants, on the other hand, will simply need to fill out an online application form. For online application, once the documents have all been scanned and gathered, you will need to create an account and apply through the Immi Account online application platform.

If all this information has been overwhelming, then get in touch with us at V4U Global. We strive to make this entire process easier and more convenient and guide you to successfully getting your Australian student visa.
